The recent election was surreal enough for seasoned members and canvassers. We should then try to understand from that same perspective and lens from that of the younger voters in constituencies around the country. Firstly there was a lack of vision of Brexit that would reassure the majority of young that predominantly voted remain and a failure to appeal to their hearts and minds. the oft used ‘living within our means’ simply doesn’t cut it any longer. Funding cuts for schools, and the poor provision of mental health provision for the young particularly the CAMHS service is patchy and not fit to cope with the volume of demand on, although credit to the PM to make it a more prominent issue within public debate and hopefully public policy makers will take heed. Something must be done as it has been kicked into the Long grass for too long. Admittedly Resources are finite and need to be used into most effective way.
Affordability of Housing is fundamental to the party’s existence or demise, the so-called generation rent are increasingly becoming an important voting block that we have ignored for too long. the green belt cannot remain indefinitely sacrosanct, whether this means Planning Reform or some other means of doing so from a Pragmatic and moral perspective. We as a party need to face up to this or the sickness could prove to be terminal. Of course we values are rural environments but we have to as all good conservatives govern and provide for greatest possible number. Politics is in a state of flux to which we as a party ride the wave or are submerged In the swell. Perhaps a Ministry of Housing would be solution to make targets a make them achievable yet ambitious nature.

How get a higher education fee System right is a gargantuan task. The present one has to be tweaked to ameliorate it to that of an outcomes based fee system on the Degree subjects,ie effectively subsidizing STEM students which would provide the manufacturing industry with workers our Industrial base. Those that don’t go to university then go on take skilled apprentice roles in the wider Economy to get the skills they need to succeed.
